Hybrid construction
Metal and plastic are mixed deliberately here. The metal grants the robustness, while the plastic handles the sliding surfaces so movement stays fluid instead of grinding.
Central joint
The joint is a latest generation design with self lubricating bushings. That is what keeps the movement smooth and silent, which matters when the stand is being adjusted with a microphone live in front of an audience or open in a studio.
Holding a heavy microphone
The counterweight accepts extra weights, so a heavy microphone out at the end of the boom can be balanced properly rather than left fighting the joint. The knob is chromed zinc alloy with a rubber coating, easy to grip and tighten by hand.
Base and feet
The base combines zinc alloy for the mass that keeps the stand planted and loaded nylon so it does not scratch what it stands on. Non-slip rubber feet finish it off.
