The MSF10 is a boom stand built around fast adjustment. The boom telescopes rather than fixing at one length, and a comfortable orange push button in loaded nylon releases it.
Adjustment
Press the button, slide the boom to the length you want, let go. Nothing to unscrew first, which is useful when a stand has to be moved between a seated player and a standing one in the gap between songs. An ergonomic knob with a rubber coating handles the angle, and additional safety knobs hold the settings so nothing drifts once you have set it.
Materials
The joint, the counterweight and the base are all loaded nylon. That keeps the weight sensible for a stand that gets carried around, and the counterweight balances the boom so the microphone end is not left hanging on the joint.
Footing
Non-slip rubber feet on the base, which is what keeps the stand still on a hard floor once the boom is extended out to one side.
