Blackstar Amplification builds its own microphone cables, and this is the 3m male to female XLR. It is the length that covers a mic stand to a nearby stage box or an interface on a desk, and the construction is aimed at keeping the signal clean rather than just getting from one end of the room to the other.
Conductors and shielding
Inside are 24AWG dual-core conductors made from 99.95% oxygen free copper, wrapped in both braided copper and foil shielding. Braided shielding is more durable and insulates better than the spiral shielding found on most low to mid level cables, and the foil layer adds a second barrier for optimum signal transfer. Blackstar modified the internal construction so the cable stays soft and flexible even with the braid in place.
Connectors and jacket
The XLR connectors are heavy duty with gold-plated pins, and the outer jacket is a premium matte black PVC that stays flexible and helps keep the cable from tangling. A shield ring is used across the Blackstar cable range to reduce capacitance and microphonic effects.
Range and packaging
This is the 3m version. Blackstar also offers a 6m XLR cable, and the Standard and Pro Series instrument cables come in 1.5m, 3m and 6m. Every cable ships with a hook and loop cable wrap for tidy storage, and the packaging is made from 100% recyclable materials to keep the carbon footprint down.
