Description

Multi-effects floorboards usually ask you to learn a menu system. The Blackstar ID:X Floor One asks you to turn a knob. It combines intuitive knob-based controls with potent digital processing, and it is aimed at electric, bass and acoustic players rather than only electric guitarists.

What is inside

There are 12 electric amp models built from classic Blackstar and Ampton tones, three bass amp models, two acoustic voices and a convincing acoustic simulator. The modelling is component-level rather than a broad-strokes emulation, and Blackstar's In The Room technology is what keeps the result feeling like an amp in a space rather than a recording of one. More than 35 premium effects sit alongside the amp models.

Shaping the sound

Blackstar's patented ISF gives you a single knob that moves the voicing across a wide range instead of a fixed EQ point. A power valve Response switch adds another layer, toggling between EL84, EL34 and 6L6 emulations so the feel of the power section changes along with the preamp. Between the two, one amp model covers a lot more ground than its name suggests.

Playing out and recording

Stereo balanced CabRig outputs mean the Floor One can be the whole system, routed straight to front of house, or it can sit in front of an amp as part of a larger rig. USB-C gives you audio interface functionality for recording, and the free Architect software handles deep editing and patch sharing. Ninety-nine patch memories, a MIDI input and an OLED screen cover the practical side on stage, and the whole thing is compact and light enough to carry easily.
