The LT DUAL is Blackstar's two-channel distortion pedal, built to add channels to an amp that only has one. Channel 1 runs from clean through boost to crunchy overdrive. Channel 2 picks up at crunch and carries on to screaming high-gain lead tones, so a single pedal covers rhythm and lead without a second box in the chain. A patent-applied-for clipping circuit is what gives it valve-like response and tone.

Description

Plenty of amps only have one channel. The Blackstar LT DUAL exists to fix that, adding two gain stages in front of whatever you already own and expanding the versatility of the rig without replacing it.

Two channels of gain

Channel 1 covers the lower half of the range. Turned down it stays close to clean, wound up it becomes a boost and then a crunchy overdrive. Channel 2 starts where Channel 1 finishes, moving from crunch to screaming high-gain lead sounds. Setting the two independently gives you a rhythm sound and a lead sound from one enclosure, which is the practical reason to buy a dual pedal rather than two singles.

Clipping circuit and ISF

Blackstar built a patent-applied-for clipping circuit into the LT DUAL, and it is the reason the pedal responds with the compression and touch sensitivity of a valve amp rather than the flatness a lot of distortion boxes have. On top of that sits the Infinite Shape Feature, which alters the tone of the gain stages between a British flavour and an American one. It is a single control that changes the character rather than just cutting or boosting a band, which makes the sound easy to customise.

On the board

The housing is rugged metal, the bypass is a high-integrity buffered design and the switching is silent, so it will not click through a quiet passage. Power comes from a single 9V battery or an optional power supply, which keeps it simple to drop onto an existing pedalboard.
