Description

The Silverline was not the first digital amp to offer variable voicings and onboard effects. It is one of the few that makes them look easy and feel fun rather than like a computer with a speaker bolted on. The Stereo Deluxe is the 100-watt 2x12 inch version, with classic combo looks and controls to match.

Valve emulation and voicings

A high-powered SHARC processor runs Blackstar's patented TVP technology, which gives realistic approximations of six in-demand amp tones. On top of that, the power valve emulation is variable, so the same voice can be run with the character of a KT66 at one end or an EL84 at the other. The gain range is wide, and the amp keeps its feel at both extremes. Strum a chord with reverb up or dig into a riff with the gain wound on, and you would swear you were parked in front of a valve amp.

Controls and effects

The EQ and ISF section is expressive rather than token, and master Resonance and Presence controls sit over the top for shaping the overall response. The onboard effects are Super Wide Stereo and analogue-inspired, which is where the two 12 inch Celestion V-Type speakers earn their place.

Stage and studio

A speaker-emulated output makes it straightforward to go direct to a desk or a recording interface. The MP3 input handles backing tracks, and a USB connection covers recording, re-amping and saving or sharing presets. It adds up to a combo that can gig on Friday and track on Monday without changing anything about the way you use it.
