Blackstar Standard 3m Instrument Cable, Straight to Straight 1/4 inch Jack
The Standard Series is Blackstar's everyday instrument cable, built to the same design brief as the Pro Series but with heavy duty nickel plated connectors instead of copper tips. Braided, not spiral
Most cables at this level use spiral shielding. Blackstar use braided shielding instead, which is far more durable and offers better electrical insulation. Because braiding usually makes a lead stiff, the internal construction was changed to retain softness and flexibility. The PVC jacket adds to that flexibility and helps reduce cable tangle, and a shield ring reduces capacitance and microphonic effect so the cable is not noisy when it moves.
How the Standard differs from the Pro Series
Both series share the same shielding philosophy, jacket and shield ring. The Standard uses heavy duty nickel plated connectors and an AWG23 99.95% oxygen free copper conductor with 90-95% braided copper shielding. The Pro Series steps up to copper tip connectors and a thicker AWG21 conductor. If you want a dependable general purpose lead for rehearsal, practice and pedalboard duty, the Standard is the sensible pick.
