Blackstar Standard Instrument Cable 1.5m Straight to Straight 1/4-inch Jack
Blackstar's own Standard instrument cable, benchmarked against the best cables on the market to give an uncompromised signal path. This one is the 1.5m length with a straight 1/4-inch jack at each end, which suits a short pedal-to-amp run or a seated practice setup.
- Braided shielding: 90-95 percent braided copper shielding instead of the spiral shielding used on most low to mid-level cables, for better rejection and better electrical insulation.
- AWG23 conductor: 99.95 percent oxygen free copper for a reliable, low impedance signal.
- Shield ring: reduces capacitance and microphonic effect, so the cable is quieter when it moves.
- Insulating wire: produces ultra-low noise and high RF rejection.
- Connectors: heavy-duty nickel-plated, straight to straight.
- Jacket: 6.5mm PVC outer jacket for flexibility and durability, with internal construction modified to stay soft despite the braided shield.
- Less tangle: the PVC jacket helps the cable lie flat rather than coiling back on itself.
- Cable wrap included: a hook and loop wrap comes in the box.
- Recyclable packaging: packed in 100 percent recyclable material.
Blackstar builds its own cables, and the Standard instrument cable is the workhorse of that range. This is the 1.5m version terminated with a straight 1/4-inch jack on both ends. Blackstar benchmarked these against the highest quality cables on the market with the aim of an uncompromised signal path.
Braided shielding, not spiral
Most low to mid-level cables use spiral shielding. Blackstar uses 90-95 percent braided copper instead, which is more durable and offers better electrical insulation. Braided shield normally makes a cable stiff, so the internal construction was reworked to keep the cable soft and flexible in the hand. A shield ring further reduces capacitance and microphonic effect, which is the handling noise you hear when a cable knocks against a strap or a floor.
Core and connectors
- AWG23 conductor in 99.95 percent oxygen free copper, for a reliable low impedance signal.
- Insulating wire that produces ultra-low noise and high RF rejection.
- Heavy-duty nickel-plated connectors in a straight to straight layout.
- 6.5mm outer jacket in PVC, chosen for flexibility and durability.
Which length and which end
The Standard and Pro Series instrument cables and the Blackstar XLR cables all come in 1.5m, 3m and 6m lengths, and the instrument cables are offered straight to straight or straight to angled. The Pro Series versions step up to copper connectors, which conduct better than gold and use a more reliable construction for better signal transfer.
In the box
Every Blackstar cable ships with a free hook and loop cable wrap for tidy storage, and the packaging is made entirely from recyclable material to keep the carbon footprint down.
