The Unity Bass U250 was built for tonal flexibility. A 15-inch Eminence Opus speaker and 250 watts give it the reach for live work, and the Response control changes the behaviour of the power amp stage itself rather than just the EQ.

Response, voicings and drive
Blackstar's Response control offers the choice of three classic power amp stages, Linear, 6L6 and 6550, which is unusual on a bass combo and changes the feel as much as the tone. Three preamp voicings follow, Classic, Modern and Flat. The Drive section is loaded with three overdrives, OD, Distortion and Fuzz, each with a user controllable blend so the clean signal stays underneath. A 3-band EQ with a semi parametric Mid knob does the fine work.
Built in effects
Compression, chorus and sub octave effects are onboard, which covers most of what a bassist would otherwise put on a small pedalboard for punch, depth and extra low end.
