The 4010A is the smallest member of the Genelec 4000 series installation range, made for rooms where a full size loudspeaker will not fit. This is the raw version, so the cast enclosure is left in its natural aluminium finish rather than painted.

  • Raw aluminium finish: the untreated recycled aluminium shell suits exposed ceilings, industrial interiors and any space where the speaker is meant to be seen rather than hidden.
  • Tiny footprint: 181 mm high, 121 mm wide, 115 mm deep, and 1.5 kg per unit.
  • Active 2-way design: a 25 W Class D bass amplifier and a 25 W Class D treble amplifier sit inside the cabinet with the crossover filters and the protection circuitry.
  • Drivers: 76 mm cone woofer and 19 mm metal dome tweeter in a reflex ported die cast aluminium enclosure.
  • Frequency response: 74 Hz to 20 kHz within 2.5 dB, with a -6 dB low cutoff at 67 Hz.
  • Room compensation: onboard switches correct for the boundaries and surfaces of the space the speaker ends up in.
  • Built in Finland using certified sustainable methods.

Description

Genelec built the 4010A around a single idea, that a very small loudspeaker should not have to sound like one. It carries the clarity, reliability and adaptability of the larger 4000 series models in a far smaller footprint, and this raw version leaves the cast shell in its natural aluminium state.

The raw finish

Raw is the choice when the speaker is part of the architecture rather than something to disguise. The unpainted recycled aluminium enclosure reads as metal instead of a black or white box, which sits well against concrete, timber and exposed services. The material is doing acoustic work at the same time. Genelec use the aluminium shell to control directivity and to cut reflections from the cabinet itself.

Active, so nothing sits in a rack

Everything the 4010A needs to run is inside it. The bass and treble amplifiers are 25 W Class D each, and the crossover filters and protection circuitry share the same cabinet. That removes the external power amplifier, the speaker cable runs and any guesswork about matching amplifier to driver, because the electronics and the drivers are optimised together. Genelec also make a wide range of mounting accessories for the 4000 series, so the speaker can go onto a wall, a ceiling or a bracket without custom fabrication.

Behaviour in a real room

The 76 mm cone woofer and 19 mm metal dome tweeter cover 74 Hz to 20 kHz within 2.5 dB. Peak output is 105 dB or better per pair at 1 m with music material, and self generated noise stays at or below 5 dB, so the unit is quiet until you feed it something. Room compensation switches handle the rest, letting you take the low end back when the speaker ends up close to a wall or tucked into a corner.
