Genelec 8320APM 4 inch Smart Active Studio Monitor - Dark Grey Producer
The 8320A is the smallest way into Genelec Smart Active Monitoring. It reproduces transparently, holds a wide uncoloured sweet spot, and connects to GLM software so the monitor can be measured and corrected for the room it is standing in. The Dark Grey Producer finish keeps it visually quiet in a working control room.

Transparent and truthful is the brief, and the 8320A meets it in a cabinet 242 mm tall. The sweet spot is wide and uncoloured, so mix decisions hold up even when you are not pinned to the exact centre. Supplied here in the Dark Grey Producer finish.
A small enclosure doing real work
The rear ported enclosure is made from recycled aluminium, and the internal volume is what gives a 105 mm bass driver low frequency extension down to 66 Hz within plus or minus 1.5 dB. The curved outer form and the integrated waveguide are there to keep the response detailed both on and off axis, rather than only in a narrow window directly in front of the tweeter.
Smart Active Monitoring, in a compact box
As a SAM monitor, the 8320A talks to Genelec GLM software over its RJ45 control ports. GLM measures the monitor in position and compensates for the room influences that would otherwise push you into bad decisions, and it scales from a single monitor through stereo to immersive layouts. Calibration needs the free GLM software plus a GLM Calibration Kit, which is a separate purchase.
Made for difficult and changing rooms
Two situations suit this monitor in particular. The first is a permanent room with acoustics you cannot fix structurally. The second is a mobile setup that has to be trusted in a different space every week. In both cases the calibration data does the work that treatment cannot.
