Genelec G1BRW G One 2-Way Active Bookshelf Speaker - Raw Aluminium
The G One is the most compact loudspeaker in the Genelec home audio range, and the Raw Aluminium version wears the die cast cabinet in its natural metal finish. It is built for desks, shelves and small rooms: computer sound, music playback and home theatre duty, from a speaker 195 mm tall with the Iso-Pod fitted.
- Active by design: the amplifiers live inside the cabinet, matched to their drivers, so there is no separate power amp to buy, house or wire.
- Straight from the source: 1 x RCA analog input, so a computer, streamer or turntable stage connects directly.
- Power: 25 W Class D bass plus 25 W Class D treble, driving a 76 mm cone and a 19 mm metal dome.
- Response: 74 Hz to 20 kHz within plus or minus 2.5 dB, reaching 67 Hz and 25 kHz at -6 dB, with a short term maximum SPL of 96 dB.
- Standby: ISS energy saving mode engages when no audio is present.
- Cabinet: die cast aluminium with a reflex port, 195 x 121 x 115 mm with Iso-Pod, 1.7 kg.
In the box: 1 x G One speaker, 1 x 1.8 m mains cable, 1 x Iso-Pod kit and 1 x operating manual. Supplied as a single speaker.
The G One is the smallest speaker Genelec makes for the home, and the point of it is that the size does not cost you the sound. Recycled aluminium cabinets give even this model a large internal volume, and together with the rear ported design that produces low frequency extension and playback levels well beyond what the dimensions suggest, without adding colouration or distortion. This is the Raw Aluminium finish, the cabinet in bare metal.
Everything is already inside
An active speaker carries its own amplification, so there is no external power amp in the chain. The benefit is not only tidiness. Each amplifier is optimised for the driver it feeds, which is a level of matching a general purpose amp cannot offer. You plug your source into the speaker over RCA and you are done.
Where it works
Genelec positions the G One for smaller spaces: a desktop pair for computer audio, a shelf system for music, or the front channels of a compact home theatre. The Iso-Pod base sets the tilt and decouples the cabinet from the surface it sits on, which matters more on a desk than most people expect. When no signal arrives, ISS energy saving mode drops the power draw.
