Korg's B2+ is an 88-note digital piano for the home, finished in black and fitted with the weighted NH keyboard. Twelve sounds sit under the panel, spanning acoustic grands, electric pianos and organs. As a first instrument it holds up well, and the pair of built-in speakers keeps the whole setup self-contained.
Two grands, two personalities
Two acoustic pianos anchor the sound list. The Italian one leans bright, holds its sustain and gives you a concert setting plus jazz and ballad variations. Broader in range, the German model runs from brilliant highs down to dark, detailed lows, and arrives as a stately main tone with a finer classic option beside it.
Electric pianos and organs
The electric piano voices track how hard you play, and they even model the click you hear as a key returns. Familiar from decades of records, those tones sit easily in a band mix. Organs round out the set: two are pitched at rock and jazz, while a carefully recorded pipe organ brings a fuller, more resonant sound.
Connecting a phone or laptop
A USB Type-C port handles both MIDI and audio. One cable does both jobs. Plug the piano into a computer, tablet or phone and it becomes a controller for software instruments, or a recorder for your practice. Signal travels the other way too, so app playback comes out of the instrument's own speakers.
Practising along with music
There is also an audio input for a phone or a music player. Feed a backing track in and it comes through the same amplification you are hearing yourself on. Between songs, the B2+ doubles as a decent set of desk speakers. Note that the USB cable is sold separately, and some iPhone or iPad setups need a Lightning to USB camera adapter as well.
Lessons and app support
Three months of Skoove Premium comes with the piano, giving step-by-step lessons through the app on your own device. The library there runs past 500 lessons and courses, with more than 800 song arrangements covering classical pieces and chart hits. Korg's Module app, for iOS only, adds a further bank of grand piano and keyboard sounds if you prefer to play through a tablet.
In the box
An AC adapter, music rest and damper pedal are supplied, along with the manual. Nothing else is needed to start. Weight is 11.4 kg on its own, so one person can shift it alone. Korg also sells the STB1 stand and the PU-2 pedal unit, which supports half-pedalling.
