The CM-400 is a clip-on contact microphone in black that feeds an instrument's own vibration into a tuner. Rather than listening to the air around you, it reads pitch through the body it is clamped to. Handy when the room is noisy.
Why a contact mic
Tuning in a busy room is the usual headache. A built-in tuner microphone hears everything, including whoever is warming up next to you. Because this one responds to vibration travelling through the instrument, surrounding noise stops getting in the way. Rehearsal halls and backstage areas become workable.
Fit and connection
The clip opens to 30 mm, so it will sit on the edge of a body or a headstock without much fuss. On the end of the 1.5 m cable is a 3.5 mm monaural mini plug, which matches the input jack on Korg tuners. Weight is 35 g. It packs away small.
