The HC-61 is a moulded hard case sized for 61-note keyboards. Its polyethylene shell takes the knocks of loading and unloading, so the instrument inside is protected in transit and in storage. Gigging players and anyone parking a keyboard between jobs are the people it is built for.
Fit and internal space
Internally, the case measures 1,118 by 441 by 152 mm, and that is the figure to check before you buy. Exterior dimensions come to 1,270 by 546 by 229 mm. Measure your instrument first. Depth is usually the catch, so include knobs, wheels and any raised panel in the numbers you compare.
Weight and handling
Empty, the shell weighs 10.9 kg, which means a trolley or a second pair of hands once a keyboard is loaded. Polyethylene stays rigid without the bulk of a wooden flight case. It is not the lightest option. What you get instead is a hard shell that holds its shape year after year.
