Korg KR-11 Compact Rhythm Box

$162.66

$162.66 (excl. GST) $177.30 (incl. GST)

The KR-11 is a palm-sized rhythm box with 16 pads, a speaker on board and plenty of patterns to practise against. Each genre holds 14 variations, which comes to 126 presets, with another 14 slots left for ones you build. Guitarists, bassists and keyboard players get a drummer that fits in a gig bag.

  • Patterns: 8-beat and 16-beat grooves sit alongside styles aimed at particular instruments, including blues and country patterns for guitar and an island style for ukulele.
  • Odd time: three, five and seven beat patterns are covered, and a swing setting loosens any of them. A metronome mode handles plain timing drills.
  • Finger drumming: all 16 pads carry a drum sound, from kick and snare to hi-hat and cymbals, and every pad reads how hard you strike it. Performances you like go into the user bank and come back when you want them.
  • Speaker: Korg's Acoustage processing lifts the low end so bass drums carry through the compact speaker system.
  • Connections: a headphone and line out jack feeds an amp, mixer or PA, and two footswitch jacks accept the optional PS-1 or PS-3 for start and stop, pattern changes and fills, or triggering a single sound in Pad Play mode.
  • Power and size: four AA batteries last about 18 hours, a 9 V adapter is sold separately, and the unit weighs 279 g.

Description

The KR-11 is a palm-sized rhythm box with 16 pads, a speaker on board and plenty of patterns to practise against. Each genre holds 14 variations. That comes to 126 presets, with another 14 slots left for ones you build. Guitarists, bassists and keyboard players get a drummer that fits in a gig bag.

Patterns for real practice

Beyond the usual 8-beat and 16-beat grooves sit styles aimed at particular instruments: Blues/R&B and Country for guitar, Island for ukulele. Odd time is covered as well, with three, five and seven beat patterns to work through. Swing loosens any of them. A metronome mode handles plain timing drills.

Finger drumming on the pads

Each of the 16 pads carries a drum sound, from kick and snare to hi-hat and cymbals, and all of them read how hard you strike. Performances you like go into the user bank and come back whenever you want them. The result lands somewhere between a practice tool and a small instrument.

Speaker, pedals and power

Korg's Acoustage processing lifts the low end so bass drums carry through the compact speaker system. Plug into the headphone and line out jack to feed an amp, mixer or PA when you need more level. Two footswitch jacks accept the optional PS-1 or PS-3, handling start and stop, pattern changes and fills, or triggering a single sound in Pad Play mode. Four AA batteries last about 18 hours, and a 9 V adapter is sold separately. The unit weighs 279 g.
