The MPS-10 is a percussion pad with sampling built in, aimed at drummers who bring electronic sounds to the stage. Ten playing surfaces cover the top panel, backed by a large library and 32 GB of internal storage. It stands alone as an instrument, and it works equally as a hub for external triggers and pedals.
Kits ready to play
One hundred preset kits are loaded, each mapping ten instruments across the pads. Another hundred slots stay empty for your own builds. Two hundred in total, then. Behind those sit 2,350 instrument sounds and just over 3,000 samples to draw on.
Shaping the sound
Reverb and a filter run on the master bus from the outset, with two insert slots and one more unit available beyond that. Effects switch in and out per pad, which is enough to change the character of a kit partway through a song. Eighty types are provided in all.
Playing without gaps
Smooth Sound Transition holds a ringing cymbal or a running sample when you change kits, rather than cutting it dead. Want silence immediately? One press of the sound off button clears everything. Polyphony stretches to 48 voices.
Connections
Audio leaves on main left and right outputs plus two sub outs, all quarter-inch, with headphones alongside. Line and microphone inputs let you feed other sources into the unit. Four trigger channels arrive on two stereo jacks, and there are foot pedal inputs plus an expression pedal input. MIDI out, USB-A and USB-B finish the panel.
Formats and size
Internal memory comes to 32 GB, preset data included. WAV and AIFF files load at 44.1 or 48 kHz, in 16-bit or 24-bit, up to an hour long each. The colour screen runs at 320 by 240 dots with a backlight behind it. Measurements are 424 by 264 by 75 mm at 2.3 kg, and a 9 volt adapter is supplied with the quick start guide.
