The Korg Multi/Poly is an analog modelling synthesiser built around a 37 note semi-weighted keybed, and it revives the character of Korg's early 1980s polysynths using modern digital modelling. Sixty voices are available, far beyond what the original hardware could manage. It suits players who want vintage behaviour without vintage maintenance.
Analog character, digital reliability
Rather than sampling old instruments, the sound engine models how they behaved. That distinction matters when you push a patch hard, because modelled circuits drift and respond the way the originals did. Polyphony reaches 60 voices, though the exact figure shifts with how heavily a patch is layered.
Hands on the panel
Four modulation knobs sit alongside pitch and mod wheels, so the most useful controls stay under your fingers mid-performance. Kaoss Physics adds a pad that responds to gesture rather than a fixed value. Nothing is buried three menus deep.
Modulation with room to move
Where this instrument gets deep is routing. Four envelopes, five LFOs, eight modulation processors and three key tracking sources can be aimed at more than 5,500 destinations, enough to build patches that keep evolving while you hold a chord. Sequence lanes and a step pulse source feed the same system.
Effects worth using
Three effect stages are built in. Pre effects cover compression, equalisation, guitar amp modelling and a decimator, while the modulation stage runs chorus, flanger, phaser and a CX-3 style vibrato chorus. Delays include tape echo, reverse and multiband options, and a four band parametric equaliser sits across the master output beside the reverb.
Connections
Impedance-balanced left and right outputs handle the main signal. A 6.3 mm stereo headphone jack covers quiet practice. Power comes from the supplied 12V adapter, and the instrument draws only 5W.
