Multi/Poly in module form is Korg's analog modelling synthesizer with the keyboard left off. Digital processing does the work, and the goal is the behaviour of analogue circuitry rather than a clean emulation of it. Anyone who already owns a controller and wants the sound engine on its own is the buyer here.
Sixty voices to play with
Maximum polyphony reaches 60 voices, which leaves room for stacked pads and held chords under a moving line. Korg notes that the figure shifts with your settings. Busier patches will draw on more of the total.
Built as a desktop unit
The chassis measures 483 x 172 x 107 mm and weighs 1.7 kg. That is light. It sits happily on a crowded desk or on a second tier above a controller keyboard, and it adds very little to a case going out to a gig.
What arrives with it
Korg lists an AC adapter as the only included item. Everything else is down to you. Budget for a MIDI controller, a couple of audio leads and whatever cabling your setup needs.
