Reaching the whole keyboard
Octave shift buttons come across from Korg's larger controllers, moving pitch up or down through four steps either way. Add the key transpose feature and every note in the MIDI spectrum becomes reachable. That covers the full span.
Expression without wheels
Rather than fit wheels to a controller this thin, Korg uses pitch bend buttons alongside modulation and sustain controls, the last of which matters for piano parts. In the Korg Kontrol Editor you can set how quickly each one switches on and off, across four levels. Changes then land smoothly instead of jumping.
One cable, nothing else
A single USB lead carries power and note data between controller and computer. No adapter is needed. That keeps the desk clear and the rig quick to pack.
Using it with an iPad
Connected through the Apple Camera Connection Kit, the unit runs from the tablet without an external supply, which opens up apps such as KORG iMS-20 that support Core MIDI. Korg does not guarantee this compatibility, since Apple changes its operating systems and hardware over time. For long sessions, or if more than one nanoSERIES2 device is in use, put a powered hub in the chain.

Korg Kontrol Editor downloads at no cost from the Korg website and handles the detailed settings. Choose between three velocity curves or a fixed value, then decide which control change messages the modulation and sustain buttons send.
