The NC-Q1 is Korg's closed-back DJ headphone in black, pairing active noise cancelling with a hearing protection function. Six EQ curves and a surround-aware setting sit alongside it, so one pair covers cueing in a loud booth and listening on the way home. Wired or wireless, your choice.
Cancelling, and letting the room back in
Noise cancelling clears out the background so a cued track stays readable at sane volume, and that is also the hearing protection argument. When you need to hear the person next to you, the surround-aware setting opens the outside world up again. Moving between those two states is the core of the design.
Tone shaping on the cup
Six EQ settings are on board: high boost, high cut, low boost, low cut, mid scoop and flat. That is enough to sharpen a cue without reaching for the mixer. Frequency response runs from 10 Hz to 25 kHz, through a diaphragm made of five layers of PEEK and polyurethane.
Bluetooth and cable
Bluetooth 4.1 handles SBC and AAC along with three flavours of aptX, including the low latency and high definition versions. When lag matters more than tidiness, the 1.5 m lead takes over, and a 3.5 mm to 6.35 mm converter plug is included for booth equipment. Charging runs over USB 2.0.
Battery and what is in the box
A 1,200 mAh lithium polymer cell gives up to 36 hours between charges and fills in about three and a half. The pair weighs around 321 g without a cable. Also supplied are a minijack lead, that converter plug, a USB cable and a carrying bag.
