The Nu:tekt NTS-2 is a pocket sized measurement tool you assemble yourself, aimed at anyone running a patchable synth rig. In one box it reads four signals at once, analyses their frequency content, generates test tones and tunes your instruments. Building it comes first.
Four signals on one screen
Two stereo inputs feed four channels, so shapes can be compared and overlaid rather than checked one at a time. Colour display modes make that easier to follow, and a Lissajous setting handles XY plots and the scope art that goes with them. The 2.8 inch 240 x 320 panel is driven by dedicated menu buttons and a clickable encoder.
Spectrum analysis on the desk
A separate FFT mode brings a real time spectrum analyser to the same small chassis. Tools like this used to mean either a bench full of expensive hardware or a computer parked next to the synth. Now it fits in a pocket.
Two oscillators to patch with
Wave Generator mode runs a pair of oscillators, each with its own socket, offering square and sine, triangle and sawtooth, plus pulse and noise. Shape and phase are adjustable, and the signal can cycle continuously or fire once, so they double as LFOs, envelopes, triggers and sources of control voltage as well as sound. Anything patchable gains from having them nearby.
Tuning duties
A tuner rounds out the set, with more than one display mode to choose from. Up to four inputs can be monitored together, which helps when several oscillators need to agree.
Power and size
The finished unit measures 12.9 x 7.8 x 3.9 cm and weighs 130 g before batteries go in. Running power arrives over USB type-C at up to 500 mA, or from two AAA cells for roughly two hours. Inputs are 3.5 mm stereo and accept up to plus or minus 10 V.
