The Korg Pa1000 is a 61-key professional arranger for solo performers and function players who need a band behind them. More than 1,750 factory sounds and over 430 styles are loaded from the start, and the chassis carries its own speakers plus a combined microphone and guitar input. One player, full arrangement.
Sounds and drawbars
Two multilayer stereo pianos with damper and body resonance head the factory bank, which also takes in GM and XG sets along with 107 drum kits. Should none of that suit the gig, another 512 places for sounds and 256 for kits sit empty and waiting. Organ players get digital drawbars with nine footages, percussion, key on and off noise, leakage and a rotary speaker effect. A further 300 MB of compressed memory holds user PCM samples.
Styles and panel control
Factory styles arrive in sets you can rearrange, with 1,152 user slots across the user and direct banks. Each carries three intros, four variations, four fills, a break and three endings. The panel also puts synchro start and stop, tap tempo, bass inversion, auto fill, manual bass and accompaniment mute under your hands, along with drum mapping and snare and kick designation. From the factory come more than 300 keyboard sets, leaving 864 further locations to fill.
Voice and guitar processing
Plug a microphone or a guitar into the quarter-inch jack, where gain runs from 0 to +40 dB. Singers get EQ, a compressor, a gate and a three-voice harmoniser built on TC-Helicon technology, plus two spare slots and more than 30 presets from the factory. Guitarists have their own chain of three effects, arriving with 45 ready-made options. Each section keeps 64 user memories.
Effects and connections
For accompaniment and songs there are two insert effects plus two master effects drawn from 148 types, while keyboard sounds take one insert with the same pair behind them. A limiter and a final EQ tidy the signal on the way out. On the rear you will find stereo line outs, a quarter-inch headphone jack and standard MIDI ports. Two USB host sockets, front and back, take memory sticks and controllers, and a separate device port handles a computer or tablet.
Speakers and file playback
Amplification runs to 2 x 33 W, feeding a pair of 100 mm woofers in a bass reflex box with 25 mm dome tweeters above them. Enough for a small room. Playback covers MID, KAR, MP3 with lyrics and MP3+G, so backing tracks and words on screen work alongside the styles. Internal memory comes to 960 MB.
