The Pa300 is a 61 note arranger workstation with a colour touchscreen and a deep library of backing styles. One player can carry a full band with it, which is why arrangers turn up at weddings, restaurants, churches and function rooms. Speakers are built in.
Touchscreen at the centre
A 5 inch colour display of 480 x 272 dots handles the picking of sounds and styles, so editing never means hunting through tiny buttons. Search covers styles, songs, performances, SongBook entries, sounds and lyric files. Finding material mid set is quick.
Backing styles and how they respond
More than 310 styles are preloaded, and the instrument holds up to 1,040 style locations once favourite and user banks are counted. Each style runs on eight tracks, with four single touch registrations, four pads and its own performance data. Arrangement runs from the panel: three intros, four variations, four fills, a break and three endings. Auto fill, synchro start and stop, tap tempo, manual bass and bass inversion sit alongside. Guitar Mode 2 and NTT decide how chords are voiced.
Sounds and effects
The factory bank holds more than 950 sounds and drum kits, a stereo piano among them, with GM2 compatibility for standard MIDI files. Another 256 slots are yours. Polyphony reaches 128 voices across 128 oscillators, and up to four blocks of stereo multi effects can run at once, so keyboard parts and accompaniment each get their own treatment.
Setting up your own performances
Four keyboard tracks are on offer as Upper 1, 2 and 3 plus Lower, enough for a split with a layered lead on top. Those setups go into 240 performance locations, with a My Setting slot for your default. Single touch settings recall a keyboard registration tied to a style or a SongBook entry, and four pads sit ready with a stop button.
Songs, SongBook and recording
SongBook is a programmable database that links a title to the right style, MIDI file, karaoke file or MP3, then switches modes automatically when called up. Custom lists and filters let you build a set in advance. The player gives start and stop, home, rewind and fast forward, while Quick Record captures a backing sequence when an idea needs keeping.
Connections and power
A pedal jack takes an assignable footswitch for damper duty, and an unbalanced stereo jack serves headphones or a mixer feed. USB carries MIDI to a computer with eight user definable presets, and a memory stick works as storage. Two 13 W amplifiers drive a pair of 10 cm double cone speakers in a bass reflex box, drawing 18 W from the mains.
