The Pa700 is Korg's 61-key arranger workstation, aimed at solo performers and anyone building full backings as they play. A seven-inch colour touchscreen fronts more than 1,700 factory sounds and over 370 styles, with 25 W a side of amplification built into the case. Gigging keyboard players are the target.
The sound engine
EDS-X drives the instrument, giving resonant filters and three-band EQ on every voice, with 128 notes of polyphony to spend. Factory content includes a multi-layered stereo piano with damper and body resonance, GM and XG sets, plus 106 drum kits. Digital drawbars bring nine footages, percussion, key click, leakage and a rotary speaker effect. Room is left for 512 user sounds and 256 user kits.
Styles and accompaniment
Each of the factory styles carries eight backing tracks, four keyboard sets and four pads, with intros, variations, fills, breaks and endings laid across the panel for arranging on the fly. A chord sequencer records progressions to play against later. Style Creator Bot turns a MIDI song into fresh accompaniment. User locations run to 1,152.
Singing and playing through it
A combined microphone and guitar input has its own gain control. From there the signal reaches a voice processor with five effects and 28 factory presets. Guitarists get a separate chain of three, with 45 ready-made settings to start from. Elsewhere there are 148 master effect types, along with a limiter and EQ at the final stage.
Recording, songs and SongBook
The sequencer holds 16 tracks and up to 200,000 events, saving natively as standard MIDI files. An MP3 player and recorder covers transposition, tempo change and a vocal remover, capturing anything from styles to the microphone input. SongBook ties the lot together as a programmable database with user set lists. Lyrics, scores and chords appear on screen or on an external monitor.
Screen, storage and connections
That capacitive TouchView panel is the main control surface, backed by 960 MB of internal memory, a rear microSD slot and USB host and device ports. Video leaves over HDMI when you want words and chords on a bigger display. Standard MIDI in and out are fitted, alongside quarter-inch line inputs, outputs and a headphone jack.
