The Pa700 is a 61-note arranger workstation in a limited edition red finish, built for solo players who work with a full backing behind them. More than 1,700 factory sounds and over 370 styles run on Korg's EDS-X engine, with a 7-inch colour touchscreen in charge of the interface. Speakers are built in.
The arranger and its styles
Every style carries eight accompaniment tracks, four keyboard sets and four pads, and each one gives you three intros, four variations, four fills, a break and three endings to steer with. A chord sequencer records a progression and plays it back, freeing both hands for the melody. User locations run to 1,152, and the style creator bot converts a MIDI song into one of your own.
Sounds and drawbars
A multilayer stereo piano with damper and body resonance heads the sound set, backed by GM and XG banks and 106 drum kits. Nine drawbar footages come with percussion, key on and off noise, leakage and a rotary speaker effect for organ work. Defined Nuance Control and natural ambience drums are part of the package, and 512 user sounds plus 256 kits can be stored on top.
Microphone and guitar in
A combined microphone and instrument input has its own gain control. It feeds a voice processor with five effects and 28 factory presets, plus a guitar processor with three effects and 45 more. Both hold 64 user presets. Vocals and a plugged-in instrument are handled from the same panel.
Recording and playback
MP3 files play back with transpose and a tempo change of up to 30 per cent either way, and a vocal remover strips the lead line for singing along. Recording works the other direction too, capturing styles, MIDI songs, keyboard sounds, pads, microphone, guitar and effects to an MP3 file. The 16-track sequencer holds up to 200,000 events and saves in standard MIDI file format.
Screen, storage and outputs
Lyrics, score and chord data appear on the 7-inch capacitive TouchView display, and an HDMI output puts the same information on a monitor for the room to read. Internal storage is 960 MB, with a microSD slot and USB host and device ports covering the rest. Two 25 W amplifiers drive dual cone speakers in a bass reflex enclosure.
