The Pitchclip 2 Plus clips onto a headstock and stays there through a whole set. Its meter uses 17 LEDs to show how far off you are, and two strobe modes take the reading down to a tenth of a cent. Guitarists and bassists who tune between every song are the people it is aimed at.
A meter you can read at a glance
Where the previous Pitchclip carried seven LEDs, this version has 17, so small errors show up instead of hiding between steps. When two neighbouring lights come on, their relative brightness tells you which side of the note you are sitting on. Note names use a 12 plus 1 segment display, which lets D and B appear as capitals rather than lower case shapes.
Strobe modes and accuracy
Two further meter modes, Strobe and Half Strobe, run the lights as a flowing pattern and resolve pitch to within 0.1 cents. Regular mode stays available for quick checks mid-song. Switch modes and a short preview plays the motion you have chosen, so no mode number needs remembering. Detection covers A0 to C8.
Angle, reverse display and power
The clip holds one position while the screen angles to suit your view, which keeps things looking tidy on the headstock. For players who mount a tuner round the back, left-handers included, reverse mode flips the readout the right way up. Reference pitch adjusts from 436 to 445 Hz in single hertz steps. One CR2032 cell runs it for around 18 hours. It weighs 19 g.
