The XVP20 covers both jobs a keyboard player wants from a treadle: stereo volume control and expression duty. Its aluminium body wears a black anodised finish and keeps the weight sensible without feeling flimsy underfoot. The design follows the XVP-10, which has sold steadily since 1994.
Volume in stereo, or expression
Two inputs and two outputs carry a stereo pair, so left and right channels stay together as you ride the level. A separate expression output, with the dedicated stereo cable supplied, feeds instruments that expect a pedal on that socket. Input impedance sits between 50K and 100K ohms. One pedal, two roles.
Feel underfoot
A torque adjustment screw sets how much resistance the treadle offers, which matters when you ride volume through a long passage. Rubber on the surface holds a shoe in place, and the revised gears move without the notchiness of older units. Setting a minimum volume stops the sound vanishing altogether unless that is what you want.
Size and build
Measuring 90 by 268 by 62 mm including the rubber feet, this one takes a narrow strip of floor beside a stand. Weight comes to 1.3 kg. That is enough to stop it walking away mid-song. Aluminium rather than plastic is the reason it stays put.
