The 1402VLZ4 is the VLZ4 you reach for when a small desk has run out of inputs. Six Onyx mic preamps, fourteen line inputs and a second aux send let you cover a band, a panel or a project studio without patching around the mixer, and the whole thing still fits under one arm.

  • 6 Onyx mic preamps with an ultra-wide 60dB gain range and phantom power for condenser mics
  • 14 high-headroom line inputs with +4/-10 operation control
  • 3-band EQ at 80Hz, 2.5kHz and 12kHz
  • 18 dB per octave 75Hz low-cut filter on the mic input channels
  • 2 aux sends plus level, pan and PFL solo on every channel
  • 2 stereo returns for an outboard effects unit or a playback source

Description

VLZ4 is Mackie's compact analog range, and the 1402VLZ4 sits at the point where a small mixer starts behaving like a proper console. More channels, more routing and more tonal control, without the footprint of a full desk.

Six Onyx preamps

The mic channels run Mackie's flagship Onyx preamps with an ultra-wide 60dB gain range, so quiet dynamics get the gain they need and hot sources still have somewhere to go. Mackie publishes 128.5 dB of dynamic range, +22 dBu line input handling and distortion under 0.0007% across 20Hz-50kHz. Improved RF rejection makes it a sensible choice for broadcast rooms full of phones and transmitters.

Tone shaping and routing

  • 3-band EQ fixed at 80Hz, 2.5kHz and 12kHz
  • 18 dB per octave 75Hz low-cut filter on the mic input channels
  • 2 aux sends, with level, pan and PFL solo on each channel
  • 2 stereo returns for effects processors or other stereo sources
  • ALT 3/4 stereo bus for added routing flexibility
  • Control room and phones source matrix

Built for load-ins

The chassis is rugged powder-coated steel and the rotary controls are sealed against dust and grime. Faders are 60mm log-taper, and the 12-segment stereo meters plus high-contrast markings give you at-a-glance feedback in a dark room. Add the optional rack ear kit and it drops into a rack, and the multi-voltage supply travels with you.
