Mackie DLM12S 12-Inch 2000W Powered Subwoofer with DLP Digital Processor
The DLM12S packs 2000 watts and a 12-inch driver into an ultra-compact cabinet, so the low end arrives without the van space a conventional sub demands. It is the processing hub of a DLM rig as much as it is a subwoofer.
- 2000W Class-D amplification: ultra-efficient power driving a high-power 12-inch heat-treated woofer with a 3-inch voice coil.
- Low frequency extension: rated 35Hz to 120Hz at -10dB, so it reaches well below what a full-range top can manage.
- DLP Digital Processor: one-touch control with a bright OLED screen.
- Precision digital crossover: presets for DLM and SRM Series full-range loudspeakers, plus a variable control for optimising with any other cabinet.
- Six XLR connections: two line level inputs, two full-range outputs for side fills and two high-pass outputs that feed DLM tops directly.
- Alignment delay up to 300ms: for delay stacks, balcony fills and time aligning a stacked system.
- Three memory locations: recall a venue setting instantly instead of redialling it every load-in.
- Smart Protect DSP: dynamically protects both amplifier and driver.
- Compact and stackable: a full DLM system fits in most cars, cabinets stack for storage, and a DLM8 or DLM12 pole mounts on top. 48 lb / 22 kg.
- Cabinet: extremely durable 15mm poplar with a rugged powder-coated 20 gauge steel grille.
Most compact subwoofers ask you to trade output for size. The Mackie DLM12S is the size argument answered differently: it is an ultra-compact cabinet that Mackie positions as the highest-output compact subwoofer on the market, and it carries the system processing for the rest of the rig at the same time.
Power and reach
A 2000W Class-D amplifier drives a high-power 12-inch heat-treated woofer with a 3-inch voice coil. Frequency response is quoted at 35Hz to 120Hz measured at -10dB, so the DLM12S covers the octave that a 12-inch full-range top simply cannot. Smart Protect DSP watches amplifier and driver together and pulls things back before something gets hurt, which matters when a compact box is being asked to work hard.
The DLP digital processor
Rather than a single crossover knob, the DLM12S has a proper one-touch digital processor with a bright OLED screen. It holds presets for DLM and SRM Series full-range loudspeakers, a variable crossover for any other brand of top, alignment delay of up to 300ms for delay stacks and balcony fills, and three memory locations so a regular venue setting can be recalled in seconds.
Connections and transport
- Two line level XLR inputs.
- Two full-range XLR outputs for side fills or a second zone.
- Two high-pass XLR outputs that connect straight to DLM tops.
- Pole mount on top for a DLM8 or DLM12.
- Cabinets stack for storage and an entire DLM system fits into most cars.
- 15mm poplar cabinet with a powder-coated 20 gauge steel grille, 48 lb / 22 kg.
