The MC-350 sits at the top of the closed-back MC Series and is tuned for reference listening rather than for a flattering, hyped sound. The closed enclosure gives the isolation you need for tracking, while the 50mm transducers do the detail work.

  • 50mm transducers: high-headroom, reference-quality drivers for accurate reproduction of a mix.
  • Precision-tuned closed-back enclosure: punchy bass and enhanced high frequency detail with a wide soundstage, and distortion-free audio with good isolation.
  • Voicing: emphasis on stereo imaging, midrange clarity and accurate low frequency reproduction, with present but not harsh top end.
  • Comfort: premium real leather adjustable headband and conforming ear pads that also help seal in the low end.
  • Built to work: rugged construction intended for studio and location use.
  • Three cables, all locking: a 9.8 ft fabric-jacketed straight cable, a 4 ft coiled cable and a 4 ft straight cable with phone control and mic, all on bayonet connectors.
  • Included: gold-plated quarter-inch adapter and a premium protective case.
  • Key figures: 20Hz to 20kHz frequency response, 32 Ohms impedance, 97 dB sensitivity, 370 g / 13.05 oz.

Description

Mackie built the MC Series on the back of its studio monitor work, and the MC-350 is the closed-back model where that intent is clearest. It is aimed at mixing, reference checking and critical listening, which means the goal is to hear what is actually on the track rather than a pleasant version of it.

What the 50mm drivers are doing

The transducers are reference-quality 50mm units with plenty of headroom, sitting in a precision-tuned enclosure. Mackie voices the pair for stereo imaging, midrange clarity and accurate low frequency reproduction, with high frequency detail that is present without turning harsh over a long session. The closed-back design keeps spill out of a live mic and keeps the room out of your ears, which is why this style is the default for tracking.

Comfort and construction

  • Premium real leather adjustable headband.
  • Conforming ear pads that support an ergonomic fit and hold the low end in.
  • Rugged build intended for professional use in the studio or on location.
  • Weight of 370 g / 13.05 oz.

Cables and specifications

Three premium cables are included, all using locking bayonet connectors at the earcup so a cable cannot be pulled loose mid take. There is a 9.8 ft fabric-jacketed straight cable for the studio, a 4 ft coiled cable for working close to a desk, and a 4 ft straight cable with phone control and mic for laptop and mobile use. A gold-plated quarter-inch adapter and a premium protective case are in the box. Frequency response is 20Hz to 20kHz, impedance is 32 Ohms and sensitivity is 97 dB, an easy load that a laptop or interface headphone output can drive properly.
