The Mix12FX is the largest mixer in the Mackie MIX series and the only one with effects on board. Where the Mix5 and Mix8 handle one or two mics, this one takes four, then adds four stereo line channels on top for keyboards, backing tracks and other line-level gear.

  • 4 mic/line inputs: low-noise, studio-quality preamps with high headroom.
  • 3-band EQ on the mic channels for clean, precise tone shaping.
  • Low cut filter at 75Hz to remove rumble before it reaches the mix.
  • Phantom power for studio condenser mics.
  • 4 stereo 1/4 inch line inputs with +4 and -10dB operation, plus balance, level and overload indication.
  • 12 integrated effects: reverbs, choruses and delays, selectable on board with no outboard rack.
  • Stereo RCA inputs and outputs dedicated to playback or recording.
  • 60mm fader for the Main L and R outputs, so the master move is a fader rather than a knob.
  • Headphone and stereo control room outputs for monitoring.
  • Rugged, portable design built to last.

Description

Adding depth and dimension to a mix does not have to mean an outboard rack. The Mackie Mix12FX is a 12-channel compact mixer with 12 effects built in, which is the difference between it and the rest of the MIX series.

Twelve channels, split four and four

Four channels are mic or line inputs running Mackie low-noise, studio-quality preamps, each with a 3-band EQ and a 75Hz low cut filter, plus pan, level and overload indication. The other four are stereo line channels with +4 and -10dB operation and balance, level and overload indication, which is where keyboards, a laptop, a drum machine or a playback rig go. Phantom power is available for studio condenser mics.

The effects section

Twelve integrated effects cover reverbs, choruses and delays. They are selectable from the panel, so a vocal gets a room, a snare gets a plate and a keyboard part gets a chorus without patching anything. For a small band rehearsing, a school hall or a home setup, this is often the whole reason to choose the Mix12FX over the plain Mix8.

Getting sound in and out

  • Dedicated stereo RCA inputs and outputs for playback or recording.
  • Headphone output for cueing and quiet monitoring.
  • Stereo control room outputs for a separate monitor path.
  • A 60mm fader on the Main L and R outputs for smooth level changes.

Build and portability

The Mix12FX keeps the rugged, reliable construction Mackie uses across the MIX series while staying extremely compact and portable. It fits under an arm, in a backpack pocket of a gig bag or on a crowded desk, and the panel stays readable while you work.
