Mackie MX2500 2-Channel 1500W Professional Power Amplifier (2U)
The MX2500 is a straightforward two-channel power amplifier for installations and portable passive systems. Mackie designed the MX Series as the matching amplification for DRM Series passive loudspeakers, and it stays clear and punchy without audible distortion even when pushed hard.
- Power output: 500W continuous per channel into 8 ohms, 750W continuous per channel into 4 ohms, and 1500W continuous into 8 ohms bridged.
- Operating modes: selectable parallel, stereo and bridged.
- Level and gain: independent level control per channel plus selectable input sensitivity.
- Status at a glance: Signal, Clip and Fault LEDs on each channel.
- Protection circuits: short, under-impedance, over-current and thermal.
- Cooling: forced-air ventilation keeps the amplifier running cool through long sessions.
- Connections: XLR input and Thru per channel for daisy chaining, with NL4 speaker outputs.
- Chassis: robust, impact-resistant all-steel 2U rackmount.
- System building: pairs with DRM Series passive loudspeakers and the SP260 loudspeaker processor for a complete Mackie system.
A power amplifier only has to do a few things well: deliver the rated power without complaint, survive a warm rack, and tell you clearly when something is wrong. The MX2500 is built around that brief, using Mackie amplifier design experience to deliver clear, punchy sound that stays distortion-free even when pushed to the limits.
Power and operating modes
Continuous power is 500W per channel into 8 ohms and 750W per channel into 4 ohms, or 1500W continuous into 8 ohms in bridged mode. Stereo, parallel and bridged modes are all selectable, so the same amplifier can drive a stereo pair, feed two zones from one source, or put everything into a single high-demand load such as a subwoofer. Input sensitivity is selectable and each channel has its own level control, which makes gain structure easy to set against a mixer or processor.
Staying alive in the rack
- Forced-air ventilation to keep operating temperature down.
- Short circuit, under-impedance, over-current and thermal protection.
- Signal, Clip and Fault LEDs per channel so a problem is visible from the front.
- Super-quiet operation, which matters in a rack sitting inside a quiet room.
- Robust, impact-resistant all-steel 2U chassis.
Connections and system pairing
Each channel has an XLR input with a Thru output, so several amplifiers can be daisy chained from one send without a splitter. Speaker connections are NL4. Mackie positions the MX Series as the natural partner for DRM Series passive loudspeakers, and adding an SP260 loudspeaker processor in front of it completes a full Mackie system for an install or a production rig.
