The Onyx24 is the largest mixer in the Onyx Series and is built to be the centrepiece of a studio or a live rig. The Onyx24 is the point in the Onyx range where channel count stops being the limit. Twenty-four channels with eighteen microphone preamps covers a full band with room for talkback, playback and spares, and it does so without moving you onto a digital desk and its menu structure.
Onyx preamps and Perkins EQ
Eighteen low-noise Onyx microphone preamps offer 60dB of clean gain each, feeding analog circuitry Mackie built for rich sound in studio production, theatre and house of worship work. Above them sits the Perkins EQ, an enhanced 3-band British Style circuit based on the desks of the 60s and 70s. Cal Perkins started from Wien Bridge topology, trading some boost and cut range for a wider, more musical Q, then found component values that returned an extra 6dB of control at plus or minus 15 dB without narrowing the filter bandwidth. In practice it is an EQ you can push without the sound getting brittle.

Effects and control
