As part of the E Series Entertainment System, GXD amplifiers are ideal for entertainment and production applications. Featuring integrated signal processing and exceptional performance, GXD amplifiers embody the hallmarks of the QSC brand—professional audio quality and long-term reliability.
With contemporary styling, versatile routing options, lightweight design, advanced digital signal processing, and robust protection circuitry, the GXD Series delivers outstanding value, making it accessible and practical for all users.
The GXD Series is optimized for 8-ohm and 4-ohm loudspeaker loads, providing precisely the right amount of power for the most popular speakers used by entertainers and production professionals.
The Right Power
Each GXD amplifier is designed to deliver power within 1 dB of the ideal level for your speaker system. Best practice recommends using an amplifier capable of supplying approximately twice the loudspeaker’s rated power capacity. Insufficient amplifier power can prevent speakers from reaching their full potential and increase the risk of damaging amplifier clipping. Conversely, excessive power may result in unnecessary expense.
To determine the power ratings for the GXD Series, QSC analyzed loudspeakers commonly used for sound reinforcement by musicians, DJs, and production professionals. These speakers typically feature woofers with continuous power capacities in two ranges: low-power drivers handling 150–250 watts and mid-to-high-power drivers rated at 250–400 watts. Single-woofer loudspeaker systems using these drivers generally have an impedance of 8Ω. Dual-woofer loudspeakers have power ratings twice that of single-woofer models and an impedance half that of single-woofer systems.
Digital Signal Processing
Unlike other amplifiers in this category, which often offer only basic front-panel controls for functions traditionally managed by rear-panel DIP switches, GXD amplifiers provide comprehensive loudspeaker processing capabilities at an accessible price point. The DSP section includes 24 dB Linkwitz-Riley high- and low-pass filters, a 4-band parametric equalizer, signal alignment delay, and RMS/peak speaker protection limiting. Twenty presets for typical systems are included as generic starting points. Additionally, GXD amplifiers come pre-loaded with QSC E Series loudspeaker tunings, enabling a simple plug-and-play setup that maximizes system performance.
Digital Limiting
Amplifier clipping is a leading cause of loudspeaker failure. The digital limiter in GXD amplifiers prevents the amplifier from being driven into clipping while delivering the maximum usable output. Beyond amplifier protection, it offers intelligent speaker protection by allowing users to set the loudspeaker’s continuous power and impedance (4Ω or 8Ω) and select from mild, medium, or aggressive protection modes.
