The Concert 88a is not a standalone wireless rack. It is the way you add another frequency-agile UHF channel to a Samson Expedition XP310w or XP312w rechargeable portable PA, using a receiver module that lives inside the speaker instead of sitting beside it.

  • CR88a receiver module: designed to slide and lock into the back panel of the XP310w or XP312w, so there is no extra box, no extra power supply and no extra cable run.
  • Frequency-agile UHF: the same approach as the rest of the Concert 88 line, so a clear channel can be found rather than fixed at the factory.
  • Concert 88 Series transmitter: the 88a system pairs the CR88a module with Concert 88 Series wireless transmitters.
  • Handheld configuration: this is the handheld version. Samson also lists the 88a series in lavalier and headset configurations.
  • Band D and Band K: Samson lists the CR88a modules in both bands, which is what allows more than one system to run alongside another.

Samson lists the Concert 88a for restaurant and retail, education, theatre and production, and fitness.

Description

If you already run a Samson Expedition XP310w or XP312w rechargeable portable PA and you need one more radio mic, the Concert 88a is the answer built for that speaker. It is a wireless system whose receiver disappears into the back of the PA.

A module, not another box

The unique part here is the CR88a receiver module. It is designed to slide and lock into the back panel of the XP310w or XP312w, which changes the setup in a practical way: nothing extra to find a shelf for, nothing extra to plug in, and no line from a receiver back into an input. The speaker arrives at the venue as one item and leaves as one item. For anyone doing a room a day, that is the whole argument.

Frequency-agile UHF

The 88a is part of Samson's Concert 88 Series, a frequency-agile UHF family, and it uses Concert 88 Series wireless transmitters. Frequency agility is what lets you move off a channel that is already busy, which in Singapore usually means a hotel function room where somebody else's system, a video crew or the house PA got there first.

Handheld, and the wider range

This listing is the handheld microphone configuration, the one that suits an emcee, a presenter, a trainer or a singer who wants to hand the mic on. The 88a series is also available in lavalier and headset configurations, and Samson lists the CR88a modules in Band D and Band K, so a second system can be specified on a different band when two mics have to work in the same room.

Where it earns its keep

Samson lists the Concert 88a for restaurant and retail, education, theatre and production, and fitness. Those are the jobs where the PA gets carried in, switched on and used, and where an extra wireless channel is worth far more than an extra rack unit.
