The EarAmp EWM100 is a wireless stereo in-ear monitor system, so performers hear themselves and the rest of the band in real time while moving freely on stage. It is the alternative to hauling floor wedges into every room.
- ET100 half-rack transmitter: two XLR to 1/4 inch combo inputs, two 1/4 inch outputs wired directly to the inputs, two BNC antenna sockets and a 1/4 inch headphone jack so the engineer can monitor what is going out.
- ER100 stereo bodypack receiver: a 1/8 inch headphone output, a large volume control, and onboard controls for a high EQ shelf, limiter, balance and stereo or mono operation.

Getting off floor wedges
Adding wireless in-ear monitoring is remarkably simple in practice. EarAmp sends the audio signal wirelessly to in-ear monitors worn by the performers, which removes the wedges that are a pain to transport and a bigger pain to manage once the room is loud. Performers hear themselves and their bandmates clearly and in real time, and the stage stops fighting the front of house mix.
ET100 transmitter
The ET100 is a half-rack unit built to take touring and stage conditions. It has two XLR to 1/4 inch combo inputs, so most sources connect without an adapter hunt, and two 1/4 inch outputs connected directly to those inputs for sending the same mix somewhere else. Two BNC antenna sockets are provided, along with a 1/4 inch stereo headphone jack that lets the engineer listen to exactly what is being transmitted. It runs on a 12 V DC supply, measures 206 mm x 199 mm x 44 mm and weighs 0.96 kg, so it travels in the same bag as everything else.
ER100 stereo bodypack receiver
The ER100 is a compact stereo bodypack with a 1/8 inch headphone level output and a large volume control that can be found and adjusted without looking. Onboard controls cover a high EQ shelf, a limiter, balance, and stereo or mono operation, which is how each performer tailors the same feed to their own ears. The high frequency boost is fixed at plus 8 dB at 10 kHz and the limiter offers 0, minus 6, minus 12 and minus 18 dB settings. Output power is 2 x 150 mW at 1 kHz and stereo separation is at least 55 dB at 1 kHz. Two AA batteries give up to 6 hours of use.

The system runs UHF from 470 MHz to 502 MHz with a 32 MHz tuning bandwidth, and Samson quotes an operating range of 300 feet (90 m) depending on the environment. Audio frequency response is 25 Hz to 15 kHz plus or minus 3 dB, signal to noise is better than 100 dB and total harmonic distortion is under 0.9 percent at 1 kHz. A 19 kHz MPX pilot tone keeps the receiver muted when there is nothing to lock onto.
