Samson LM7x Unidirectional Lavalier Microphone with Four Transmitter Adapter Cables
The LM7x is a low-profile lavalier with a miniature condenser capsule and a directional pickup pattern, which is the part that sets it apart from the omnidirectional lavs most wireless systems ship with. It rejects sound from behind the capsule, so it holds up better in rooms where feedback is a risk.

Most lavaliers are omnidirectional, which is fine in a controlled room and a problem on a live stage with wedges. The LM7x takes the other approach: a low-profile lavalier built around a 6.84mm back electret condenser capsule with a unidirectional pickup pattern, for broadcast, presentation, house of worship, theatre and other vocal work.
Directional, and small enough to disappear
The quarter inch miniature capsule captures audio from directly in front of the microphone while rejecting sound from behind it, which reduces spill and minimises feedback. The clip is lightweight and unobtrusive, so it sits almost invisibly on a tie, lapel or collar. The microphone itself weighs 2 g. Frequency response runs 50 Hz to 12 kHz, sensitivity is -45 dB 1 V/Pa at 1 kHz within 3 dB, output impedance is 2.2k ohms and maximum SPL is 125 dB.
Four connectors, most transmitters
The LM7x ships with four detachable microphone cables, each 1.2 m long:
- 3.5 mm (1/8 inch)
- Hirose 4-pin
- Switchcraft TA3F, which is what Samson wireless systems use
- Switchcraft TA4F
Between them, those four cover most popular wireless systems, so the mic can move between belt packs from different brands as your rig changes. Operating voltage is 1.5V to 12V DC, which is the range bodypack bias supplies fall into.
What is in the case
Along with the mic and the four cables you get a cat fur windscreen for outdoor use, four standard foam windscreens for plosives indoors, the mic clip and a carrying case to keep the whole set together. That matters more than it sounds: lavalier accessories are small, and the case is the difference between a complete kit and a missing TA4F cable on show day.
