How it works
The RC10 uses a single-panel construction with an industry-standard acoustic foam interior and an aluminium frame. Placed behind the microphone, it absorbs the sound that would otherwise carry on into the room and come back as an off-axis reflection, and it reduces unwanted room noise arriving from behind. What you are left with is clear, crisp recordings that sit properly in a mix, because there is less room baked into the take that no plugin can remove later.
Placement is the whole game
A reflection filter only performs when it is in the right position relative to the capsule, so the RC10 is adjustable. Its steel mounting mechanism offers up to 6.5 inches of vertical reach, and the included mounting hardware allows up to 8.75 inches of forward and backward movement for optimal placement. That range is enough to bring the panel close in around a large diaphragm condenser, or to pull it back when a singer needs room to work. The hardware attaches to standard mic clips using the top thread and to stands using the bottom thread, so it works with the stand and clip already on the floor of your room.
