The heart of the SM4 is a 1-inch dual-diaphragm brass capsule delivering smooth, controlled low end and crystal-clear highs that never turn harsh or shrill. A full 20Hz-20kHz frequency response and a uniform true cardioid polar pattern keep captured sound source-centric with excellent off-axis rejection, and the mic's large sweet spot significantly attenuates the low-end boominess close-miking tends to produce.

Very high max SPL handling means guitar amps, horns, heavier vocal styles and even drums are all realistic sources, so the SM4 earns its place beyond the desk mic role.
No radio noise

Shure's patent-pending Interference Shielding Technology prevents RF noise from mobile phones, laptops, wi-fi routers and similar equipment from reaching the capsule, using an integrated pop filter and a woven mesh Faraday cage around it.
