$393.58 (excl. GST) $429.00 (incl. GST)

The SM4 with its accessories included. Alongside the microphone you get a shockmount, a detachable external pop filter and a carrying case, which covers the three things most people buy separately in the first week.

  • In the kit: SM4 microphone, shockmount, detachable external pop filter and carrying case.
  • Capsule: 1-inch dual-diaphragm brass, 20Hz-20kHz, uniform true cardioid with excellent off-axis rejection.
  • Interference Shielding Technology: patent-pending RF shielding that blocks noise from phones, laptops and wi-fi routers.
  • Internal pop filter plus high max SPL handling for audio free of booms and plosives.
  • Build: all-metal, low-profile design.

Very high max SPL handling means the SM4 is not restricted to voice. Guitar amps, horns, heavier vocal styles and even drums are all realistic sources for it.

Description

Shure calls the SM4 a home recording microphone, but the specification is not a home recording specification. This kit version bundles the accessories, so the mic arrives ready to mount, shielded from desk thumps and protected in transit.

What the kit adds

Over the standalone SM4, the kit includes a shockmount, a detachable external pop filter and a carrying case. The shockmount isolates the capsule from vibration coming up the stand, the external filter works alongside the mic's internal pop filter for close vocal work, and the case makes the SM4 portable between rooms or studios.

Smooth, natural audio from any source

At the heart of the SM4 is a 1-inch dual-diaphragm brass capsule with a full 20Hz-20kHz frequency response. It delivers smooth, controlled low end and crystal-clear highs that avoid sounding harsh or shrill. The uniform true cardioid polar pattern keeps recordings source-centric with excellent off-axis rejection, and a large sweet spot significantly attenuates the low-end boominess that close-miking usually brings.

High SPL handling means more sources

Very high max SPL handling puts guitar amps, horns, loud vocal styles and even drums within reach, so the SM4 is not limited to voiceover duty.

No radio noise

Shure's patent-pending Interference Shielding Technology prevents RF noise from mobile phones, laptops, wi-fi routers and other common wireless devices from reaching the capsule. An integrated pop filter and a woven mesh Faraday cage shield the capsule, which is how the SM4 stays clean in a room full of household electronics.

Looks the part

The all-metal, low-profile design sits comfortably alongside more expensive microphones on a stand or a boom arm.
