Vox AC30C2 Custom 30-Watt 2x12 Tube Combo Amp
The AC30C2 is the most flexible version of the AC30 Vox has built. Two channels, a master section with tone cut, onboard effects and a true bypass loop, all pushing a pair of 12-inch Celestion Greenbacks.
- Two channels: Normal and Top Boost, each with its own volume, so you can balance them against the master
- Tube complement: three 12AX7 preamp tubes and four EL84 power tubes for 30 watts

- Effects: spring reverb and tremolo with speed and depth, switchable by optional footswitch
- True bypass effects loop for bringing pedals in and out of the signal path
- Speaker outputs: a switchable 8 or 16 ohm jack that mutes the internal speakers, plus a 16 ohm jack for running a cabinet alongside them
Balance the channel and master volumes and the amp moves from clean chime to edgy overdrive without a pedal in sight.
Plug into the AC30C2 and the classic Vox voice is there straight away, but this Custom Series build gives you far more control over it than the original design ever did. Two channels, a proper master section, onboard effects and a true bypass loop turn a famous one-trick sound into a working amplifier.
Two channels and a master section
Normal and Top Boost each carry their own volume control. Dial in the Top Boost treble and bass, then set the tone cut and volume in the master section. Balancing the individual and master volumes is where the range lives, from a clean, chimey clean tone through to an edgy overdrive.
Reverb, tremolo and your own pedals
Warm spring reverb adds space and the tremolo has speed and depth controls for everything from a gentle pulse to a hard chop. Both can be switched on and off by footswitch. For pedalboard players, the true bypass effects loop keeps outboard effects out of the path until you want them.
All tube, 30 watts
Three 12AX7 preamp tubes feed four EL84s in the power section to make up the 30 watts. That is the classic recipe, and it is why the amp compresses and blooms the way it does when you push the front end.
Speaker options
The AC30C2 is loaded with two 12-inch 8 ohm Celestion G12M Greenbacks for the 1960s rock voice the design is known for. A switchable 8 or 16 ohm output jack lets you run an external cabinet instead, muting the internal speakers, and a second 16 ohm jack lets you run a cabinet at the same time as the internal pair.
