Vox Pathfinder 10 Guitar Combo Amp, Limited Edition Red
The Pathfinder 10 is Vox's compact 10-watt 1 x 6.5-inch practice combo, offered here in a limited edition red. The warm British sounds are the ones the brand is known for, with a high-gain capability that is thoroughly modern, and the looks are pure Vox down to the chicken head knobs.
- 10 watts, 1 x 6.5-inch: loud enough for home practice, backstage warm-up and recording.
- Clean and overdrive switch: jump instantly between a crystal-clear clean and Vox's warm distortion.
- Full control set: gain, treble, bass and volume for sound shaping.
- Headphone and line-out jack: using it mutes the speaker automatically, so late-night practice stays silent.
- Filtered line out: the same jack doubles as a line out for recording without setting up a microphone.
- Limited edition red: basket-weave leather-look vinyl, diamond grille cloth, gold beading, white piping and chicken head knobs.
The Pathfinder 10 packs the instantly recognisable warm British sounds Vox is known for into a compact combo, and adds a high-gain capability that is thoroughly modern. This one arrives in a limited edition red.
Classic Vox looks
The cosmetics are the real thing. Basket-weave leather-look vinyl, the distinctive diamond grille cloth and, of course, chicken head knobs. Small but all-important details such as gold beading and white piping have been faithfully reproduced, which is what makes a small practice amp look like a Vox rather than a budget box.
Little yet loud
Ten watts through a 1 x 6.5-inch speaker is a powerful yet always tone-filled output, and it lands in the right place for home practice, backstage warm-up and recording. This is an amp meant to be used daily rather than one waiting for a gig.
Clean and overdrive on a switch
The clean and overdrive switch changes character instantly. One press takes you from a crystal-clear clean sound to Vox's uniquely warm distortion, or from a slightly crunchy bluesy tone to a high-gain modern rock roar, depending on where the gain control sits.
Headphone and line-out jack
Want to practise late at night without disturbing anyone? Plug headphones into the headphone and line-out jack and the amp's speaker mutes automatically. The same jack doubles as a specially filtered line out, which is a straightforward way to record the amp without setting up a microphone.
Controls
Gain, treble, bass and volume sit on the front panel alongside the clean and overdrive switch. That is enough range to shape a sound properly and few enough controls that you find it quickly.
