Description

The Yamaha DXR8mkII 8" 2-Way Powered Loudspeaker is engineered for professionals seeking exceptional audio performance in a portable, compact package. As the smallest model in Yamaha’s DXR mkII Series, it delivers an impressive 1100 watts of peak power (950W LF + 150W HF) and 700 watts continuous (600W LF + 100W HF) via an efficient Class-D amplifier. Despite its size, it achieves a maximum SPL of 130 dB at 1 meter, making it ideal for small to medium venues, live performances, installations, or presentations.

The loudspeaker features an 8-inch LF cone driver with a 2-inch voice coil and ferrite magnet, paired with a newly designed 1.75-inch Neodymium HF compression driver—an upgrade from the original DXR series. This larger, lighter HF driver enhances vocal clarity and musicality while reducing weight. With a frequency response of 57 Hz to 20 kHz (-10 dB) and a 90° x 60° dispersion pattern, the DXR8mkII ensures wide, even coverage and high-definition sound across diverse applications.

Yamaha’s advanced FIR-X tuning™ DSP uses linear-phase FIR filters to optimize the LF/HF crossover, aligning frequency and phase for a natural, interference-free sound. The D-CONTOUR multiband compressor offers three modes—FOH/MAIN, MONITOR, and OFF—tailoring output for main speaker or floor monitor use, enhancing tonal balance and intelligibility. Protective DSP functions, including limiting and thermal safeguards, ensure reliability under heavy use.

The onboard 3-channel mixer adds versatility, with Input 1 (XLR, mic/line), Input 2 (dual 1/4" jacks), and Input 3 (stereo RCA) accommodating various sources. A THRU output parallels Input 1, while a LINK OUT connects additional speakers. When set to mic level, Input 1 activates a high-pass filter (HPF), with adjustable 100 Hz or 120 Hz settings for seamless subwoofer integration, such as with the DXS12mkII.

Encased in a durable, bass-reflex ABS enclosure, the DXR8mkII minimizes vibrations and offers flexible mounting: dual 35mm pole sockets (0° or 7° tilt), two M8 fly points, and optional U-bracket compatibility. Weighing only 12.8 kg (28.2 lbs), it’s easy to transport, yet built to withstand rigorous conditions. A universal power supply (100-240V, 50/60 Hz, 90W) ensures global compatibility.

Developed with NEXO, the DXR8mkII blends Yamaha’s audio expertise with cutting-edge technology, delivering premium sound quality, portability, and durability for musicians, sound engineers, and presenters alike.
