The Yamaha HS5I is a professional 2-way bi-amped powered studio monitor designed for accurate sound reproduction in recording studios, home studios, broadcast facilities, commercial installations, cafes, restaurants, and more. The "I" version adds convenient mounting points on multiple surfaces, making it ideal for wall or ceiling installation while delivering the same reference-quality audio that has made the HS Series a trusted standard worldwide.
Featuring a 5" cone woofer and 1" dome tweeter, the HS5I employs a bi-amp design with a dedicated 45W amplifier for the low frequencies and 25W for the highs, providing a total of 70W of clean, high-resolution power. This matched amplifier-transducer system ensures a flat frequency response with smooth, natural sonic transitions across the spectrum.
The monitor achieves a frequency range of 54Hz – 30kHz (-10dB) and 74Hz – 24kHz (-3dB), with a 2kHz crossover. Yamaha’s advanced noise reduction technology minimizes port noise by up to 6dB, resulting in cleaner, more accurate monitoring even in demanding professional environments.
The low-resonance MDF enclosure is carefully engineered to eliminate unwanted cabinet resonance, delivering a damped acoustic response perfect for critical listening. Response-tailoring controls include Room Control (to reduce exaggerated low-end when placed near walls) and High Trim for precise high-frequency adjustment, allowing the HS5I to adapt seamlessly to different room acoustics.
Connectivity is flexible with balanced XLR and TRS phone jack inputs that accept a wide range of sources, including mixers, audio interfaces, keyboards, and electronic instruments.
Thanks to the integrated mounting points, the HS5I can be easily installed on walls or ceilings using optional Yamaha brackets, offering greater placement flexibility without sacrificing sound quality or stability.
Whether used as nearfield monitors in a studio or installed in commercial spaces, the Yamaha HS5I provides transparent, fatigue-free monitoring with the reliability and sonic accuracy that professionals expect from Yamaha.
