The MS-200D+ is the drive specialist in Zoom's MultiStomp range. Where a normal multi-effects unit spreads itself across modulation, delay and reverb, this one spends all 200 of its effects on drives and distortions. 200 drives in one enclosure
The count breaks down into 164 all-new Zoom originals and 36 emulations of classic tones, covering overdrives, distortions, boosts, fuzz and more. Zoom has continued to add to it after launch as well, with 10 additional effects delivered through Guitar Lab in November 2024. That is a lot of ground to cover from a pedal that takes up one slot on a board.
Build your own dirt
Up to 250 custom patches let you chain any two effects together, which is where the range starts producing sounds you cannot buy off the shelf. Effect Routing decides how the pair behaves: in series for a boost driving a distortion, in parallel for two characters blended together, or alternate so a single footswitch flips between two completely different tones. That last mode is the practical one for live use, where changing sound between verse and chorus needs to happen in one movement.
Made for the floor
The LCD screen changes colour as you scroll, which sounds cosmetic until you are hunting for a specific drive type in a dark venue with 200 options to move through. Cross Key switches let you jump between effects with a tap rather than a hold, and the metal frame is there to survive being stood on, packed, dropped and stood on again.
